This summer, your child has the chance to earn exciting Red Hawk prizes through our Summer Reading Program! Whether your student is reading through Kids Read Now or mastering skills on IXL, they can track their progress and earn rewards by attending our Family Engagement Nights.

Family Engagement Nights

These open-house style events are for K–5 families and take place from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at Cedar Springs Middle School:

• June 18, 2025
• July 9, 2025
• July 23, 2025
• August 6, 2025

How to Earn Points

1. Complete reading or engagement activities.
2. Track each activity on the Reading and Activity Log (Download to print at home or stop by the District Office to pick up).
3. Bring the completed log to a Family Engagement Night.
4. Earn 1 prize for every 20 points—up to 5 prizes each night.
5. Get a new log to keep earning more at each event!

Reading Activities

• 5 points – Every 15 minutes read
• 5 points – Each picture book
• 20 points – Each chapter book
• 20 points – Read and prepare a recipe
• 20 points – Read on a road trip

Engagement Activities

• 10 points – Attend a Family Engagement Night
• 10 points – Share a photo of you reading
• 10 points – Write about your summer activities
• 10 points – Attend a KDL or Cedar Springs Library event
• 20 points – Sign up for a library card

Level Up With Bonus Prizes

Students who meet the following summer learning goals will receive a special prize when school starts:

Red Hawk Starter – Keychain

• Kids Read Now: Read 4 books
• IXL: Score 80 or higher on 4 i-Ready standards per month

Red Hawk Explorer – Water Bottle

• Kids Read Now: Read 6 books
• IXL: Score 80 or higher on 6 standards per month

Red Hawk Champion – Drawstring Bag

• Kids Read Now: Read 8 books
• IXL: Score 80 or higher on 8 standards per month

Don’t forget to log your progress in Kids Read Now and IXL—rewards will be handed out in the fall.
