Mr. Carpenter is our principal at Cedar Trails Elementary for PreK-1st grade.
Entering his twenty-third year in education, he has taught first, second, and fourth grades throughout his career.
Mr. Carpenter earned his Bachelor of Arts from Grand Valley State, his Master’s in Education with an Early Childhood endorsement from Aquinas College, and most recently, his administrative certification from Grand Valley State.
Mrs. Cook

Mrs. Cook is our principal at Beach Elementary School supporting our 2nd and 3rd graders. Before moving into the principal position in August of 2022, she was a teacher in Cedar Springs for over 20 years. She has most recently taught 3rd grade at Beach Elementary but also supported Preschool through 2nd grade over her career.
She holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Central Michigan University with an emphasis on Early Childhood Development and Language Arts. She also has two Master's degrees focusing on the Art of Teaching and Educational Leadership. Grand Valley State University supported her school administration certificate.
Outside of Beach Elementary, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Mike, and their three children. Alayna ('23 CSHS graduate) attends Central Michigan University while Ayden ('25) and Landen ('27) attend Cedar Springs High School. In her free time, you will find her at CMU or in a hockey rink supporting her children's passions.
She looks forward to learning and growing alongside your children as they enter the doors of Beach Elementary.
Mr. McCoy

Mr. McCoy is the Dean of Students at Beach Elementary. He is excited and honored to serve the Cedar Springs community and our students.
Mr. McCoy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Michigan State University and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University.
He began his career as a first-grade teacher in Detroit before moving to the west side of the state. There, he worked in various roles for Grand Rapids Public Schools. Before coming to our district, he served as a behavior interventionist at Kentwood Public Schools.
Mr. Becker

Mr. Becker is our principal at Cedar View Elementary grades 4th and 5th and has worn many hats in his 14 years in education.
After graduating from the University of Iowa, he spent seven years in Houston, Texas teaching high school social studies. Eight years ago, he moved back to Grand Rapids, MI where he started his career in administration. He worked as the Assistant Principal at Wellspring Preparatory Academy, ran the alternative Learning Center for Wyoming Public Schools, was Dean of Students at Kenowa Hills High School, was Assistant Principal at Newaygo Middle School, and led as the head football coach at both Wyoming and Kenowa Hills.
Outside of school he can be found grilling, traveling, and spending time with his wife Erica, and three kids Olivia, Claire, and Lucas.
